The Cars That Ate Paris Riso Repro Print - A3, Two Colour

£20.00
The Cars That Ate Paris Riso Repro Print - A3, Two Colour.

Through my visual research and study of the history of cinema, I sometime come across images I fall so in love with I have to remake them. And the Risograph method is the very best for certain historic images. This “The Cars That Ate Paris” poster was the ideal image to remake as a limited edition Riso Print.
The red was added, as the gradient and text wouldn’t have had colour in the original newspaper advert. But these colours were present on the cheaper UK and US posters.
The film was marketed as an Ozploitation/slasher film. This simplification does a great injustice not only to work of the great director Peter Weir - Witness, The Truman Show, Dead Poet Society - but also to Australian cinema of the 1970s.
This particular newspaper poster ad was for the Rialto Theatre and Cinema on Coventry Street, London. The building still stands today as a Grade II listed building, with the Grosvenor Casino The Rialto on its upper levels, with the historic Cafe De Paris below.
